My 78 year old father-in-law has been helping us remodel our basement and last weekend we worked on the laundry area. I’ve been trying my hardest to keep up with him.
Here’s what the laundry room used to look like. The washer and dryer are in the same spot as the old ones.
Bleh. Double bleh. Also a lot of sickness because the walls were full of mold. We took all the walls out so what was once a laundry room is now a laundry area. It really opened up our basement. My husband is a little iffy on it so far. I think he feels like his man cave is gone and in the new one he’ll also have a laundry room. Which is true but it feels so much more open so he’ll be fine.
We bought a new washer and dryer last year and just recently my FIL built the drawers to set them on. It makes it much easier to do the laundry but I have to make a suggestion. NEVER buy a front loader. I can’t stand it. It takes a lot of work to keep it from smelling moldy and musty and I have to leave the door open all the time. I am counting down the days until I can safely suggest to my husband that we should get a new one. I’m thinking it should be right around the time that he forgets that the laundry room used to be separate from his man cave.
